Gorgeous, gorgeous green malachite! I love this mineral. It is without doubt in my top 5 favorite! This specimen is striking with a fibrous texture covered in a nearly black velvety sheen. Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral that most often forms in unusual swirling patterns. Associated with copper deposits around limestone, so you’ll sometimes see it’s host rock grayish-white and possibly with orange and/or brown.
